The Glow Up: A 5-Step Guide For Your Spiritual Journey

While trying to redeem clarity in my life, I flooded myself with spiritual books and bullshit ass advice that only seemed to get me so far, because let’s be honest: words don’t teach, only experiences do. Whether it was relationship pains, career issues, or creative pursuits that didn’t feel progressive, I kept asking myself “Why is this happening to me? I don’t understand.” It wasn’t until I sat with myself, truly reflected on all of the “shitty” experiences and took accountability for my growth, when the life altering question became apparent to me: “What is this experience teaching me?”  

Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you, and as I am evolving and learning how to keep my energy positive given the laws of the universe – you attract what you put out - I have narrowed the process down to 5 keys you should note that will ease your mind no matter what obstacle or circumstance may arise on your journey.

1. Find Your Happy Place.

Give yourself permission to unleash your inner child again. Imagine, envision, and fantasize your desires and all that you want. Take a moment each day to truly feel that feeling of what it would be like to live your desires and then speak of them often and surround yourself with things that make you feel just as good. I realized that the more I visualized what I wanted, the more I spoke of it with confidence, the faster it manifested into my reality. You have to believe you deserve all of the things you want out of life.

2. Gratitude Is Your Best Friend.

Learn to make peace with where you are, who you’re with, and what you’re doing. Trust in the process and that you are at the right place, right time, undergoing the perfect experiences needed to move you forward on your journey. Choose to see the good in everything, the blessings that you already have, and the progress you’ve already made. As apart of my morning routine, I journal a list of things that I am grateful for. This not only helps me kickstart my day, but it puts me in a great mood and opens me up to receive even more of what life has to offer.

The rest is irrelevant as fuck.

3. Girl, Get Choosy. Your Energy is Sacred.

Practice when to respond and how to respond. I’m learning to never act on intensified emotions that are completely out of whack. Almost always when you react while emotionally imbalanced, the outcome will birth a repeated negative cycle. The highest possible outcome is only achieved when your ability to breathe, process, and reflect within is exercised when triggered.

4. It’s A Vibe. It’s All A Vibe.

Everything that you want is rooted energetically first. All that you wish for begins with your vibration that you radiate outwardly before it appears. Learning to focus on how you’ll feel when it appears, rather than in the moments of its absence will strengthen your vibration for its arrival. I had to learn that the majority of why I felt depressed or anxious about something was because I was focused on the absence of it, instead of what it would be like to have it.

5. Expand Past The Bullsh*t.

All your experiences are in perfect alignment to your evolution. Certain interactions, relationships, situations that trigger a conditioned response, or a habitual behavior, are purposefully playing a part to help co-create an experience that is needed for you to grow. Your growth is always first. Oftentimes, such experiences hurt as a desperate attempt to awaken you to certain behaviors that call for expansion. Think “expansion” and “for the love of growth”, before you allow ego to make you think “anger” and “hurt”. This was the hardest one for me to internalize, but now I have so much love for the people who made me feel anything but happy, because I know they were helping me grow at the end of the day.

So remember: You are exactly where you need to be. Don’t give your energy to shit that won’t matter a year from now. Everything and everyone is helping you to grow. Keep a positive energy! You Got This.
